Christian Street / Black Doctors Row heads to the Historical Commission

The Historical Commission has finalized its review of SOSNA & Preservation Alliance's nomination of Christian Street / Black Doctors Row Historic District and notices to property owners were mailed April 7. We are now on target for June committee review and July final approval.

The Philadelphia Historical Commission, the City’s preservation agency, will hold two public meetings to consider a proposal to designate a historic district that consists of 154 properties (203 with condominium units) on Christian Street between S. Broad Street and S. 20th Street.

The full district nomination can also be accessed on PHC’s website. More details on the upcoming PHC meetings are shown below

This also means the temporary demo moratorium is lifted, and properties proposed within the district are now under the jurisdiction of the Historical Commission.
