Why do you want to serve as a SOSNA Board Member?

I've already been building for this neighborhood and would like to join SOSNA to find new ways to scale my impact. I started a block-wide group chat that saves packages, wrote a welcome one-sheeter for new neighbors, built an app that sends block-specific trash-day reminders, and am about to launch one to make parking less painful. Some impacts are simpler: fixing a fence at Stanton, helping a neighbor build a grill, helping another apply for a job. In six years here, I’ve seen that some changes can lift a neighborhood. At the same time, some things here don’t need changing; they need scaling. Philly is at its best when we find that balance. I own my first home here, and my kid will go to public school here. I’ve found ways to make an impact on my own. Now I want to join the board to scale that work.

I was chair of the Advisory Board for Best Buddies for two years, and also independently coordinated fundraisers raising over $20k total over several years. Professionally, I've been in leadership roles of consistently increasing scope since 2008, coordinating cross-functional groups to deliver new growth platforms and solutions which facilitate the sharing of information across teams.

Why do you want to serve as a SOSNA Board Member?

When I think of the ways that the neighborhood has changed for the better in the two decades I've been here, SOSNA has played a huge role. The organization helped create green space in our community, like Carpenter Green and Julian Abele Park. It also helped establish the pocket park at 22nd & Catharine and the Grays Ferry Triangles. SOSNA helped small businesses grow, whether it's through "Dines Out" events or through recent mini-grants. And SOSNA has helped make our neighborhood cleaner and greener, planting trees and procuring grant money for street cleaning. As great as our neighborhood is today, there's always room to continue to improve. I'd like to see more small businesses succeed, more events for neighbors to connect, and even cleaner streets. With my institutional knowledge, experience as a small business owner, and commitment to volunteerism, I believe I can continue to help the organization move forward.

I have served as a volunteer with SOSNA in various capacities over the last fifteen years, serving on the Board of Directors from 2011-2017 and again from 2023-2026. During my time on the board, I've had a number of responsibilities, serving at various times as Treasurer and also chairing the Zoning Committee from 2017-18. In addition I have volunteered as a Democratic Committee Person since 2012 and have served as Ward Leader since 2018. In this role I organize polling places in our community, work with other committee people to vet Democratic candidates, and coordinate GOTV efforts in our neighborhood, among other responsibilities.
