Carpenter Green Park
An urban oasis at 17th and Carpenter Streets the heart of the
Graduate Hospital neighborhood.
In 2015, we were able to clear a series of vacant and blighted lots into the foundation of a great green space. Phase 1 laid the groundwork for the future park.
Work to complete Phase II included the completion of walkways, hardscaping, the sprayground element, and trees/plants and amenities for surrounding areas.
With the help of volunteers and our many donors, the final steps for Carpenter Green Park were completed in 2020 and the park officially opened to the public.
A Friends of Carpenter Green Park group has been created to maintain, fundraise, and plan events for the space.
In 2021, we were awarded an Arbola Foundation grant that provided the funding for 4 native-species street trees. With the help of local youth, those trees were planted in the fall of 2021 and will provide much needed sidewalk shade once they are mature.
The Friends of Carpenter Green Park continues to manage maintenance activities, including turning the misting station on and off almost daily at the park. This has provided much needed respite during our hot summer months and we thank them for their diligent work!
In November 2022, Love Your Parks will return to Carpenter Green and volunteers are encouraged to come out and show support for this neighborhood oasis! Those details will be shared as they become available.
